Edward Read Cutting

Ed has worked in the Brussels office since its formation (as Fulcra) in 1996 and has been instrumental in establishing the company's profile and reputation in Belgium. A commission as an infantry officer in the Royal Regiment of Wales saw time spent in a variety of locations which terminated in Hong Kong where Ed worked as a financial adviser with Asia’s largest firm – then part of the Jardine Matheson group. An economics graduate, Ed has a keen interest in investment analysis, and also specialises in Belgian corporate pensions. Ed is a keen contributor to both the local and international Brussels community; he is a Past President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium (2003-2005) and was a member of the Council (1998-2007). He is also:

Katie Boag-Thomson

Katie Boag-Thomson

Katie joined The Fry Group Office Belgium in 2003. She has worked in Belgium as a financial adviser since 1998, providing financial and retirement planning advice to both the expatriate and local communities. Prior to coming to Belgium, Katie worked as a compliance officer for Chase de Vere in London. Chase de Vere being one of the UK's largest financial advisory groups. Katie is a MA (Hons) graduate of the University of Glasgow and also holds a postgraduate degree in accountancy. She began her working life training as a chartered accountant in Scotland but was particularly drawn to the area of financial planning for both individuals and corporations. Katie (a self-confessed lover of analysis) specialises in local and international pension optimalisation and cross-border financial planning analysis. Katie sits on the Tax, Legal and Finance Tax Force of the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium.  

Seán O'Connor

Senior Adviser and US Tax Return Preparer

Seán O’Connor

Seán O'Connor graduated in 1994 from University College Dublin with a Masters in Economics. He began his career in US expatriate tax (Deloitte and KPMG) in Brussels and he has also worked as an (external) auditor in a research DG of the European Commission. Seán trained as an NLP practitioner in 2012 and joined The Fry Group in 2013. Since joining us, Seán has developed The Fry Group’s offering for US tax payers in the wake of the FATCA reporting regime as well as offering US individual income tax return preparation services. He also sits on the AmCham Tax & Legal committee. Seán’s Economics Masters degree stands him in good stead for advising clients on insurance-based investment solutions and being born and brought up in Belgium and fluent in both French & Dutch, Seán is very knowledgeable of domestic Belgian issues notably Belgian pensions for the self-employed.

Amanda Newell

Amanda Newell

Amanda joined The Fry Group in 2015 working in an administrative role for Director Ed Read Cutting while also studying to become a fully qualified adviser. Never one to shirk a challenge, she is the first native English speaker to successfully pass the obligatory Belgian exams in French which she did in 2017. She has gained further experience working as a paraplanner over the course of the past year before moving to her new role as of 1 July 2018. Amanda has extensive knowledge of the Belgian pension system and other tax efficient investments for those living and working in Belgium. She is active in the local community and regularly gives talks at various organisations to enlighten expats on the importance of protecting the financial future of families and children through the use of life insurance.
